Purchase Domain Name

Purchase a Domain Name

People are snatching up domain names as quickly as they can. They may start out with one or two domain names, but many end up with as many as twenty or more. These people have figured out that domain names are great tools to communicate their personal values and ideas, commercial identity, and they’re great to resell to others for a profit. It’s so easy to purchase a domain name these days, there’s no reason not to. This article will explain to you how easy it is to purchase a domain name. Then, you can go and get one.

The hardest part of registering a domain name comes before you actually buy it. Before you purchase a domain name, you must choose a name you would like to use. The reason why this can be difficult is because the first few names you think of are usually registered already. The process of selecting domain names could take hours before you finally find one that has not been registered. The registrar will inform you of whether or not the name is registered. When you type in the desired domain name, the registrar automatically searches the master domain name database. If the name is registered, you will be asked to try again. If not, you may proceed to purchase the domain name.

The next step is to set up a new account. You must create a username and password (some registrars automatically do this for you) to be able to login to your account in the future. Next, the registrar will ask you for four contacts – the registrant, administrative contact, billing contact, and technical contact. If you want to retain ownership of the domain name, be sure to indicate yourself as the registrant. You may designate yourself or others to be the other three contacts. Once this is done, the registrar will let you choose the number of years you’d like to register the domain name. You may choose a minimum of one year to a maximum of ten years. Finally, enter your payment information and the process is complete.

Print any and all communication between yourself and the registrar until completion of the registration process. You want to keep records showing that you have, indeed, purchased the domain name. This means you should keep records of your username, password, list of contacts, receipts, and confirmation email. Store everything in a folder and file it a way in a secure place.
